ACAMIS Volleyball Champions (Nov 2018)

8 November, 2018

After semifinal wins the Wolves were buzzing with excitement and nearly left their coaches speechless as we were just so proud of how they played together as a team. The Wolves accomplished an historic feat in Beijing with both teams making the finals for a UISG first, but there was still work to be done....

The boys final started out flat in the first set as UISG went down 12-4. After a much needed timeout to refocus and stick to the game plan they came out firing and roared back to take a 23-19 lead. Budding rivals, NCPA did not back down and eventually tied the game at 24-24. The boys kept their composure and won 26-24. The second set was just as intense as there were many lead changes. The game was tied again at 24-24 and with an audience over 100 athletes and coaches on the edge of their seats watching the game unfold the boys prevailed with a 28-26 victory to win our first ever ACAMIS Volleyball Championship.

All 14 teams in attendance then shifted their focus to watch the final two girls teams play, UISG and YCIS of Hong Kong battle for ACAMIS supremacy. It was another hotly contested final. The UISG girls had the superior attack and communication on the court. They faced a very defensive and determined opponent but ultimately the Wolves chemistry was too much to handle and the girls won consecutive sets to become ACAMIS Champions and complete a UISG storybook ending.

All tournament medals went to Kouki, Tomoya, Reiko, Asly, Alice, and Emilie. Special thanks to head coaches Andi Fortuna, Katrin Hertel and their assistant coaches Hayden Englefield, Michaela Anita, and James Caudle. It was truly a magical season with one of the best sporting finishes I have ever seen. All Wolves and the UISG community should be extremely proud of these amazing individuals.
