The Board Members of UEF
Ms Dorothy Wong
has been involved with Utahloy Group (now Tuenbo Group) since 1975 in property development in Hong Kong and in China.
In 1996 she set up a successful Children’s Activity Centre in Golden Lake Estate in Guangzhou, China, and developed a passionate interest in education. This has led her to develop the original Children’s Activity Centre in Golden Lake into a flourishing all-through International School and to develop a second International School in the garden environment belonging to Utahloy Group near Zengcheng, China.
Ms Wong was made an Honorary Citizen of Guangzhou in 1993.
She set up the Utahloy Education Foundation (UEF) in 2003 and became the first Director of the Foundation.
Ms Wong is also currently Managing Director of the Tuenbo Group, which specialises in land development, estate development and eco-tourism. She is a Member of The Chinese General Chamber of Committee, Member of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Chamber of Commerce and Member of Amusement Game Centres Appeal Board.
As Director of the Utahloy Education Foundation, she is responsible for strategic planning and for the finance, campus maintenance and capital development work in the two schools.
Joanna Wu
became Director of Utahloy International School GZ & ZC in September 2007 after 16 years work for Utahloy Management Co. Ltd. Master degree of Business Administration. Current role is assistant school daily administration work, and associate with the PRC relative Authorities. She is a member of National Center for School Curriculum and Textbook Development Ministry of Education of China.
Maggie Choi
joined UEF in April 2009 as Deputy General Manager. Since returning to China/HK SAR in 2005, Maggie worked as Vice President for a manufacturing plant in China overseeing their entire operation including HR and finance functions. After that she worked as the General Manager for a new venture company established in Hong Kong in the telecommunication industry. In Canada, Maggie was an Assistant General Manager for one of the major Canadian Banks and was responsible for the Bank’s International Payments Application System and other banking application systems supporting the Branches in Canada, North America, UK, Europe and Asia. She achieved a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New South Wales.
Wu Qi
is one of the Board of Directors in UEF since 2007 and acts as a consultant for both schools. In his early years, he has worked as a school teacher in Hainan, he was the Head of the Chemistry for Guangzhou Zhinxin High School, a researcher in the Chemistry faculty of Miami University of Ohio and Deputy Principal in Guangzhou Pui Ching High School.
Mary Yeung
is one of the Board of Directors in UEF since July 2006. She became Director of Utahloy International School GZ & ZC in September 2007. She achieved a Highter Diploma in Legal Studies from the City University of Hong Kong and worked in the Judiciary of Hong Kong for 33 years. She was the First Clerk of Kwun Tong Magistracy when she retired in 2005.
Kiri Luk
joined Utahloy Group in 1992 as Deputy Chief Accountant and had been promoted to the Chief Accountant, the Company Secretary and the Assistant General Manger. She has been the General Manger of the Hong Kong Headquarter since 2005. She Graduated from Hong Kong Baptist College (now named Hong Kong Baptist University) with Honors Diploma in Accounting. she is also a Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and licensed Estate Agent in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. She has previously worked in Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (one of the Big Four CPA firms)for 5+ years as Audit Senior before joining Utahloy Group in 1992.
The Education Team
David Coles
became Director of Education at UEF in September 2009 after 5 years as Principal Inspector with the Hong Kong Education Bureau, reviewing the work of English medium grammar schools. Prior to this he worked for 10 years for the English Schools Foundation in Hong Kong as the Education Officer responsible for Primary and Special Education and teacher recruitment across 15 international schools. In the UK he was Senior Inspector of Schools for the County of Warwickshire and an OFSTED registered inspector, after having been the Principal of 2 schools in the County of Avon. He has taught all phases from primary to post graduate, including as a lecturer in Education at the University of Bristol, where he was awarded his Master’s degree. He has been associated with UEF since its inception and was the consultant at the founding of UIS Guangzhou in 1997/98.
