Course Outline - Drama

In grade 7 Drama, students learn how to express themselves better, communicate ideas and understanding, participate in ‘theatre sports’ and improvisational drama, create characters and present them to an audience.

In grade 8 Drama, students will learn how to express themselves better, communicate ideas and understanding, participate in ‘theatre sports’ and improvisational drama, learn to communicate with the body (mime), and improve their understanding of acting from a script.

In grade 9 Drama, students will learn how to express themselves better, communicate ideas and understanding with depth, participate in ‘theatre sports’ and improvisational drama with skill, develop strong drama techniques; voice, body, movement, space and learn to create their own dramas (devising drama). They will also start learning about famous theatre practitioners and how they contribute to drama and theatre studies.

In grade 10 Drama, students build on communication, knowledge and understanding, participation and improvisational drama. They will also deepen their understanding of the drama skills; voice, body, movement, space, increase performance skills and apply knowledge in short essays, reflections and evaluations. This year is the final year for MYP Drama; the course will be busy, sometimes demanding but very rewarding and enjoyable.
