English - MYP - Assessment Criteria, Language A

Language A has three (3) criteria, each equally weighted with ten (10) levels of achievement.

Criterion A: Content

Considers: the students ability to demonstrate an awareness of the function of language through critical and creative writing; an understanding of the texts studied; and an effective response to literature.

Criterion B: Organisation

Considers: the clarity and coherence of expression; the logical structure and development of arguments; the provision of relevant evidence; and the use of appropriate literary conventions.

Criterion C: Style and Language

Considers: the use of appropriate and varied language for different purposes; the use of appropriate register (tone, vocabulary, and sentence structure) to suit the purpose, audience and form; and the use of accurate pronunciation, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
