MYP Assessment and Methods of Assessment

Assessment is continuous and is both formative and summative. Four assessment criteria are used to assess student work following the IB MYP:

  • Criterion A – Knowledge (maximum 10)
  • Criterion B – Concepts (maximum 10)
  • Criterion C - Skills (maximum 10)
  • Criterion D – Organisation and Presentation (maximum 8)

All criteria are covered a number of times using a range of methods of assessment. This allows the strengths of all students to be catered for.
In accordance with MYP guidelines, students’ marks from the 4 criteria are added together and converted to a final grade on a 1 to 7 scale. The table below shows how the final grades are determined.
