Year 9

  • Water on the land – 1. Rivers – the water cycle, natural processes (weathering & mass movement, erosion & deposition), landforms, human uses of landscape.
  • Water on the land – 2. Water resources – human uses, misuses and water management; the flooding hazard - causes, consequences and solutions
  • Farming – focusing on farming in China / SE Asia compared to other farming systems around the world; technological changes; food shortages & overproduction.
  • Population – including Migration & Urban environments
  • Coasts – landforms, human impact and coastal management
  • Globalisation, including Leisure activities and Tourism

Year 10

  • Environmental threats, eg global warming, acid rain, soil erosion, waste management, air pollution
  • Ecosystems – 1. Tropical Rainforests and Deforestation, eg SE Asia/Amazonia
  • Ecosystems – 2. Savannas (Tropical Grasslands) and Desertification, eg the Sahel
  • Industrial Systems and Development, including contrasts in development, industrialization in SE Asia; Trade and Aid; quality of life/human welfare.
  • Decision-Making Exercise
  • Natural hazards – focus on Tropical storms
  • Energy Resources – types of energy; power stations
  • Glaciation – landforms formed by ice and human use of glaciated areas.
