Have a very happy Mid Autumn Holiday

28 September, 2018

Dear Parents,

I wish you all a very Happy Mid Autumn Holiday next week.  Please note that school will close as usual on Friday 28 September and will open for years 1 to 12 on Wednesday 10 October.  Our Early Years will open one day earlier on Tuesday October 9.  During Monday and Tuesday, our staff will be engaged in professional development and collaboration to ensure that we are up to date with current teaching practices and well prepared to deliver quality teaching programmes to your children.

The Utahloy Alumni Association (UAA) celebrated its inauguration last Saturday.  There were close to 400 people attending, with representatives from past and present students, teachers, parents, Board members and community members.  The event was a great success as stories were shared and friendships rekindled.  This event will set the scene for may future UAA events.

A number of building projects are continuing and are scheduled for completion shortly.
The sports field is scheduled to be completed over the October break and the swimming pool complete with heating and ready for use by November 1. Should there be any changes to these dates we will keep you informed and I thank you for your patience and understanding as these exciting new projects are finalised.

Cooler weather will soon be with us and so I encourage you to be proactive and ensure that your children are well prepared with winter uniforms.  There is time required for ordering and receiving uniforms, and so please follow the guidelines from the uniform shop and allow plenty of time.

During the first term we have had many exciting activities for our students across the school.  We had some disruption due to typhoon Magkhut,  and our Head of Secondary, Mr. Service is looking now at the alternative plan for camps weeks which was unfortunately postponed.  Mr. Service will be communicating this to parents shortly.

There are many highlights, activities and events taking place in the coming weeks and I encourage you to get involved. I wish you all a wonderful break.

Kind regards,

Dr. Michael Wylie
