At UISG, we provide the best possible
education for our students. The IB Middle Years
Programme (MYP), for students aged 11 to 16, is
designed as an inclusive programme that links
clearly with our Primary Years Programme
(PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). The
MYP is at the forefront of education because it
» rigorous learning objectives languages
» a student-centred approach to teaching
» international perspectives
» concern for the whole child
» sustained teaching and learning in more than one language
» a focus on learning how to learn
» the development of flexible thinking that prepares students to evaluate information critically and apply knowledge in complex, unfamiliar situations
Middle School students at UISG study eight subject groups including English, Mathematics, Science, Individuals and Societies, Design, Visual Arts, Physical and Health Education, and usually two further languages. Languages are highly regarded in our school and their development is actively encouraged. UISG is renowned within the international educational community as having one of the best mother tongue programmes, offering seven different languages.
At UISG, the MYP is part of an educational continuum that emphasises concepts, ideas and issues that cross disciplinary, cultural, national and geographical boundaries. Within a coherent, comprehensive curriculum framework, the MYP provides academic challenge and encourages development of life skills on which students rely throughout the course of independent, purpose-driven lives.
