Early Years Assembly (September 2019)
This morning the K to K3 classes had their first assembly in the Admin. Hall. The children learned actions to the song 'The World Is A Rainbow'. Those children who knew the song were invited to the front of the stage to show their friends the actions. We discussed rules during assembly time like reminding the children to cross sit for better posture and the importance of listening to the speaker. This was followed by our popular EY House songs. Children were allocated to their House and with the teachers' help, they roared as loud as they could to cheer for their House. We explained to the children how to earn House points. There was discussion on playground rules to ensure safety for everyone. The children have some basic understanding of what germs are and the importance of hand-washing. Towards the end of the assembly we got everyone up to do some dancing.
We have assemblies throughout the school year for the purpose of developing a feeling of unity amongst the children and teachers. We relay important messages to everyone; allow classes to share their learning; and celebrate those who displayed certain Learner Profile attributes or took 'action'. Likewise the children build on their attention span, develop listening skills and gain confidence to talk or perform in front of a large audience.
