Year 2 Field Trip (September 2019)
Field trips are a great way to make connections between the learning and the real life. They also help the students to take their understandings further.
On Monday 16 September, Y2 students went to the Greenery Pottery for a workshop as part of their current Unit of Inquiry, ‘How We Express Ourselves’, where they were able to express themselves using clay. During the workshop, students learnt about different techniques, such as scratch and attach, as well as different tools when working with clay. They also got to see a pottery wheel in action. Ms Kidd (Head of Visual Arts) also joined the trip and taught the students some terms and techniques as well as demonstrating making a ceramic bowl. Each student created a piece that conveyed a message to everyone or either they made something that they liked, which will be returned in a few weeks with the colour of their choice.
After the workshop, students had lunch and a walk around the park to enjoy the beautiful scenery before returning to school.
The Y2's had a fun and purposeful day!
