The activities programme in Dragon House is based around three main time allotments:

Morning Sport – 6:30 – 7:15
Afternoon Activities – 4:00 – 5:00
Evening Clubs – 8:00 – 9:00

Morning Sport (offered Tues-Friday) – Student Directed

Student-directed exercise allows students to sign up the evening before with the Activities Coordinator or a Supervisor, who will then give permission for them to sign out the following morning. In this case the notified staff member will enter the necessary information on the ‘student directed exercise morning signup’ to inform morning staff of the whereabouts of the student. Morning staff are then responsible for assuring that students are back at the appropriate time to allow for them to shower and prepare for the school day. The purpose of Student-directed exercise is to allow students some freedom and responsibility for their own health and well-being. The Activities Coordinator or any Supervisors have the right to deny students the right to sign out in the morning, based on student respect and responsibility towards Boarding House rules.

Afternoon and Evening Clubs

Students will have the opportunity, during their free time, to sign up for clubs which have been pre-organised and arranged by staff. Students are not required to sign up for clubs but are encouraged to do so as much as possible, without interfering with their studies. Staff have the right to prevent students from participating in activities for disciplinary purposes or, if it is seen that it is in the student’s best interest not to participate due to homework obligations or other commitments which must take priority. Staff will do their best to offer a range of activities and welcome student council input on the options available. Clubs and activities are subject to change throughout the year.

Signing out equipment

Signing out of equipment may be done at free time or during activity time. Students have the option of organising and participating in their own activities during this time. Students must have permission from a member of staff to sign out any equipment from the activities office or storage rooms. After using any of the Boarding House resources, students must seek out a staff member and sign back in the equipment in order for all equipment to be accounted for.
