School Fee Structure 2017-2018 School Year
*The day tuition fees remain inclusive of meals, text books, after-school activities and a contribution towards field trips. UISZ runs two semesters per year. Fees are paid annually or by semester. The school offers a 4% discount on Tuition Fees for payment of full year in advance before June 1, 2017.
Transportation (Bus) Service
There is a flat rate for day students and a 3-zoned rate for 5 day boarders traveling home each weekend. Please refer to the transport zone map for details. Taking school transport is optional. This levy only partially covers the total cost of transport, which is still subsidized by the school. It is our strong desire to continue to offer students a comfortable, secure and safe transport system.
Unpaid Obligations and Non-Payment
Parents are respectfully advised that before the start of a semester, if payment is not received by the due date, the student may risk not being admitted to the school and the seat may be forfeited. If the payment is more than one month late, the Head of School will be advised and warning letters will be issued. If the outstanding fees are not paid within 7 days from the date of the final reminder, the school reserves the right to deny admission of the student to the facilities of the school, including classes, if payments due are not made by stipulated dates. Students whose accounts are in arrears will not participate in school, school trips, and progress reports, results, transcripts and all certificates will be withheld until payment is received. Such action taken by the School does not diminish the obligation of payment of the Parent/Guardian, as outlined in the registration contract, and the school reserves the right to take legal action to recover all money owing.
A late payment charge of two percent (2%) will be charged on all school fees that are overdue, past the payment stipulated due date. With joining the school, the parents agree to pay, to the extent permitted by law, the school’s expenses of enforcement and collection of the overdue tuition fees and related expenses, including lawyer’s fees and costs.
Withdrawal and Refund
The School makes advance commitments related to staffing, purchasing and other resources, based on confirmed enrollment, all of which have financial implications. Withdrawal of a student from UISZ is only confirmed in writing, either through email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by submitting written notice in person to the school Admissions Office. If the written notice is submitted to the School during a public holiday, it will be deemed received by the School on the first day of school following the public holiday. The school will not be responsible for any case when written notice has not been officially submitted. Any refund of fees will only be considered after receipt of the written notice. Students will be considered as enrolled students for the following school year if written notice of withdrawal is not received.
If a student withdraws before the start of the first semester of the following school year and informs the school in writing on or after 1 March but before 1 August, UISZ will refund the semester or annual tuition fee payment, boarding and transportation fees made, after deducting the seat guarantee enrolment fee of RMB 20,000.
If a student withdraws before the start of the first semester of the following school year, but notifies the school in writing on or after 1 August but before the semester has started, UISZ will refund the semester or annual tuition fee payment, boarding and transportation fees made, after deducting RMB 40, 000 (double of the seat guarantee enrolment fee of RMB 20,000).
For Annual Payments: If a student withdraws after the first day of the start of the first semester, gives notification in writing of withdrawal before or on 1 December, and does not attend any days of school or boards at the boarding house in semester two, UISZ will refund the annual tuition fee payment, boarding fees and transportation fees made, after deducting the full semester one tuition fee payment, boarding and transportation fees, as listed in the fee schedule.
For Annual Payments: If notification of withdrawal in writing is made after 1 December but before the start of the second semester, UISZ will refund the annual tuition fee payment, boarding fee and transportation fee made, minus the full semester one tuition fee payment, boarding and transportation fee, and an additional fee of RMB 20,000.
The Annual Capital Levy (ACL) is non-refundable or non-transferable whatsoever and is payable at the start of the semester in full by each family, and invoiced to the oldest child in the family. There is no refund provided for families leaving mid-semester.
Once a semester has started, no refund of any fees paid for that current semester is possible, regardless of whether the student has attended classes at school, boarded at school or used the bus service.
Refunds will not be offered to students who are dismissed or withdrawn from school for academic or behavioral misconduct, or to students who have not properly disclosed learning issues which UISZ cannot support.
Refunds can only be processed after the student’s last day of attendance, once the return of school materials has been verified. The approved refund will only be made to the original payer, unless requested otherwise.
School fees are not transferable to another student or another school.
The Transportation (Bus) Fee is paid by semester or annually. There are no refunds provided for transportation (bus) fees once a semester has started or mid-way through, regardless of whether the student has taken the bus or not.
No refund of any fees will be made for temporary absence from school for any reason whatsoever.
All refunds are subject to deductions for outstanding payments.
Any other requests outside of this policy must be made in writing and referred to the Finance Department, who will refer all requests to the Board for verification and approval. In case of community or civil emergency, UEF will have final right to advise.
