UISZ Community Letter April 14th 2020

Dear UISZ Community Members,

Many of you will be aware of a letter sent by the Guangdong Education Department discussing opening dates for schools in the Guangdong Province. Accordingly, UISZ is planning to reopen on-campus learning for Year 10 and Year 12 only, the two secondary examination classes on April 27 subject to approval by the Guangzhou Education Bureau.

Our Secondary leadership Team will communicate directly with Year 10 and 12 families regarding the planned programmes and safety measures.

Other parts of the school are not able to resume on campus learning until after May 11. When we have more specific details regarding the exact reopening date for the remaining year levels, we will inform you. The resumption of on-campus learning is likely to take place in phases and by year levels.

We are all looking forward to the day we can all get back into the school campus and resume the full range of school activities, but we must be patient until we receive the necessary further directives. Please be assured that the SLT, MDC and UEF Board have worked together planning how the school will operate with the staffing and students present in Guangdong, ensuring the safety of all.

We are continuing to monitor the situation locally, nationally, and globally to ensure that we are at the forefront of health and safety provisions and the provision of education.

Thank you again for all your support and energy.

Yours faithfully,

Nicholas Evans MA
Head of School
