The Prep Class is the first year of more formal instruction in the Primary School. There is a carefully planned balance between teacher-directed and child-directed learning to help meet the developmental needs of 5 year old children. We use the Jolly Phonics reading programme to teach literacy skills. Mathematics instruction focuses on the use of math manipulatives and games to teach concepts. These two subject areas, along with science, music, art, PE, and social skills are incorporated into the Units of Inquiry in the Primary Years Programme.
