Message From Deputy Head - Primary
UIS-ZC Primary School covers classes from KG1 (age 3) up to Grade 6 (age 12) and is made up of lovely children from many different nationalities. We follow the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Within our Maths, English and Science, we have internationalized many other curriculums from around the world, to suit the needs of our ever growing student numbers.
The children receive specialist teachers for Music, Art, Chinese, IT, Library and P.E. and make full use of the amazing facilities that we have on campus.The Primary staff consists of teachers from,
Australia, Canada, Brazil, England, America, China, Scotland, Papua New Guinea and Wales. Each one brings something different into the classroom, but all make learning interesting and recognize the differences between student abilities.Our Language B staff, who write individual learning programmes for each student, are available to children who need a little bit of extra help with their English.
Once a week we follow a “Personal and Social Education” programme which covers a number of topics such as, Friends and Friendship, Self Esteem, Healthy Body, Safety and Manners. Every Monday we have whole school assemblies during which weekly achievement recognition awards are handed out, and we sing our school song.
Every child on entering the school is given a House Team – Wind, Water, Fire or Earth. Within these teams they can gain individual points through “Phoenix Points” for good behavior and hard work, or for team events during House Games, Swimming Galas and Sports Days. Grade 6 students are our House Captains and are given extra responsibilities around the campus.
There is good communication between staff and parents, and our classroom doors are always open to visitors. Report Cards are issued four times a year, with follow up Parent Conference Days. Being an international school we recognise a lot of special days and events - Halloween, Christmas, Terry Fox Charity Run, Chinese New Year, Earth Day and Student Musicals.
UIS-ZC Primary School is an extremely happy and busy place where learning is interesting, purposeful and challenging.
