Visual and performing Arts

The creative impulse exists in all of us. A fundamental aim of study in the creative arts is to harness the creative impulse in young people by providing them with a wide range of creative experiences in the study of Drama and Art.

Exploration, experimentation and evaluation are integral elements of all creative processes. They promote a sense of enquiry about the world around us, develop invaluable critical skills and move students towards independent self-driven learning.

The international environment in which we live and work is highly valued within the Visual and Performing Arts department. This is reflected in programmes of study that encompass many opportunities for students to investigate different historical and cultural contexts.

As the school grows and develops the programme of creative arts is growing with it and the range of opportunities increasing. At the present time all students in grades 7, 8 and 9 study Art and Drama. Year 10, students choose between Drama or Art. Visual Arts and Drama are offered as part of the IB Diploma and the Utahloy Foundation programme.
